Instilling purpose...Creating driven agents of positive change
Traditional education alone is not enough to set individuals apart anymore. It is universal key traits to success, which have stood the test of time, that truly allow one to lead a purpose-driven and passionate life. Poverty, HIV/AIDS, Cancer, Corruption, Unemployment, Underemployment, Underutilization, Inequality, and so many others; these are the challenges facing millennials across the globe especially in developing nations like Lesotho. Dealing with these challenges of today requires problem-solvers who bring different perspectives and are willing to take risks. Selibeng Book Club emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and support the community, and a desire for actions to speak louder than words. Established in 2013 by newly-graduated High School students in Leribe, Lesotho, we’re an organization driven by progressive ideas, bold actions, and a strong foundation of support. Who We Are
Working Towards a Better Tomorrow
"Seliba" is a Sesotho word for "a well." In the Sesotho culture, this is a significant place which offers source of life, water. Basotho go to a well with empty buckets, usually stay by the well to chat, exchange valuable information, impart wisdom and return with a giver of life, wisdom and friendships. At Selibeng Book Club, youth join a network of passionate, driven and motivated peers, who came together to expand their knowledge and wisdom to become trailblazers, trendsetters and visionaries. Youth have so much to offer to the world,- we believe in the power that they hold, and know that they will mold future generations to come. At Selibeng Book Club, we offer the support they need in order to shape them into leaders of the future. We have educational programs, community service initiatives and leadership initiatives that help nurture our youth and help them develop the skills they will carry throughout their lives. In Sesotho we say. "Kopano ke Matla!" which is directly translated "Unity is Strength!"
